Kendig Gathering 2012 – small but nice event – more on facebook

2012/08/12

The 2012 Kendig gathering had the Ohio Kendig come in again.

Russel Kendig and his daughters attended.

Russel is getting older. He is a true World War II war hero. This time he brought along his B17 bomber scrap book. Fascinating to flip through.

There is a cousin’s picture.

Food was great as always with fresh corn and hotdogs – Thank you Aunt Toots and Uncle Ray.

Lampeter Strasburg 40th class reunion at Revere Tavern in Paradise PA

2012/08/11

Ya it’s been 40 years since just under 200 of us graduated from LSHS.

Thank you Jan and Jose and Cindy and Woody for the great help setting up the event.

We all had a great time. It was great having so little conflict and so much fun seeing people again.

We had around 50 people.

The food was good, light alcoholic beverages and lots of time to talk. There was no music or background distractions.

Drinks at the Revere bar afterwords with Tom and Laura Barto and Jose.

A few pictures here to savor the memory.

Green Dragon is a large Amish based flea market just fun to walk through

2012/08/03

After picking up TRK and Chris at the train station in Lancaster we were off for a quick visit to the hug Green Dragon market outside Ephrata.

We had lemonade made by the amish. Bought some whoppie pies. Had dinner is a stall there – the last chicken pot pie of the day. The stall had not made much food for the day not expecting many customers because it was so hot.

The people at the market are not stylish in any way – except if you think 5 amish boys under the age of 11 with straw hats dressed in Sunday best is stylish.

DTK and CMD had dinner with us at stall. I think sausage and mashed potatoes were some of the other favorites.

Jason Lickty’s original barbershop painting

2012/08/03

Dillon’s pre wedding haircut turned into quite a story.

Dad has gone to Kenny’s in Paradise for haircuts for fourth years. And dillon got a good haircut there.

This painting is by Jason Lickty early on. Kenny showed the us the record shelves Jason mad for Kenny. Kenny has one of the most extensive record collections in the county.

Crab dinner in Severn with the Maryland Kendigs

2012/08/02

The crabs were expensive $45 a dozen for males – but with the old bay seasoning they tasted the best!

We had shrimp also and yuengling beer. Everyone had fun cracking and eating Crab.

CMD had chicken tacos. Marina was there to enjoy the event also.

Getting the Earl Kendig’s Grandfather clock fixed

2012/08/02

So the Kendig boys spent some time looking at Earl Kendig’s Grandfather clock.

We could not the the bell to stop so we took the mechanism to a clock fixer that will have it restored in several months.

The chime sure is noisy.
